Cisco TelePresence

Interoperability Database

Warning - In preview mode

We endeavor to make our Cisco TelePresence products interoperable with all relevant standards-based equipment. Although it is not possible to test all scenarios, the testing on which this data is based covers most common functions of the listed endpoints and infrastructure.

The following pages describe the software releases that were tested for interoperability with Cisco TelePresence products. The results are grouped by product range. It is not possible to guarantee that all the models listed in the Product(s) column have been tested with the specified software release, although to the best of our knowledge we believe that all such models are interoperable with the associated software release. The absence of a device or release does not imply a lack of interoperability.

Cisco TelePresence Multipoint Switch (CTMS) 1.8
  • 1.8: 1080p is not available to any other endpoints than C-Series endpoints.
  • 1.8: Initial release of CTMS 1.8.0 supports 720p only with all endpoints running TC5.0 or later.
  • 1.8: Secure meetings are not supported.
  • When dialing to the CTMS, VCS cannot be interwork the call (H.323 to SIP conversion). Such a conversion will make the call drop.
  •  1.8: Minimum call rate to join a CTMS conference is 2.25Mbps, as CTMS requires minimum 720p resolution.
  • TC interoperability must be enabled on the CTMS.
  • Black Screen Codes are supported, but these will not work if the system is behind a firewall.
  • CSCud36845: CTMS can not handle mid call re-invite causes problems in mixed 720p/1080p environments
  • CSCud45692: CTMS does not respect capability set from a 720p restricted C- series endpoint. This may cause no video after the 15-minute session refresh because the 1080p30/720p60 capable endpoints will start transmitting this resolution, which the 720p endpoint cannot decode.
Cisco TelePresence Multipoint Switch (CTMS) 1.9
  • 1.8: 1080p is not available to any other endpoints than C-Series endpoints.

SIP: 1080p60 support on Lago 1G codecs Encrypted calls supported with TC6
CSCue12132: In a point-to-point call between TX9000 running TX6.0 and TC6 the TC6 endpoint has decoding errors on 1080p if the TX6.0 endpoint has previously dialed a CTMS. Bug is identified in TX software.

No issues if the TX or CTS system is registered to Unified CM version 8.5.1, 8.6(2a)SU3 or a later version.

If the system running TC software is registered to Unified CM version 8.6.x, the following parameters apply:

Maximum video: 720p

For more information about products that are compatible with systems running TX6.0, refer to the Cisco TelePresence TX System Software Version Compatibility and Interoperability with Other Devices—6.0.x Releases document at the following URL: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/tx_sw/6_0/compatibility/tx_sw_compatibility_6_0.html

Cisco TelePresence System TX9000, Cisco TelePresence System TX9200 1.9.1

SIP: Encrypted calls supported with TC6 CSCtz95144: TX9000 version earlier than 1.9.2 does not handle RTCP PLI on the BFCP channel, which results in no presentation.

Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) X7.0.1

SIP: Both Assent and H.460.18/.19 traversal technologies are supported

H.323: If you configure a trunk towards CUCM 8.6 or 9.0, you must create a custom SIP trunk that does not remove BFCP lines towards CUCM. If you choose CUCM as profile in the VCS, BFCP will be removed and dual stream (BFCP) will not be possible between CUCM and VCS.

Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) X7.1

If you configure a trunk towards CUCM 8.6 or 9.0, you must create a custom SIP trunk that does not remove BFCP lines towards CUCM. If you choose CUCM as profile in the VCS, BFCP will be removed and dual stream (BFCP) will not be possible between CUCM and VCS.

Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) X7.2

If you configure a trunk towards CUCM 8.6 or 9.0, you must create a custom SIP trunk that does not remove BFCP lines towards CUCM. If you choose CUCM as profile in the VCS, BFCP will be removed and dual stream (BFCP) will not be possible between CUCM and VCS.

No video is seen on a C60 if the following conditions are met:

  1. A Cisco TelePresence System 500 Series, 1000, 1100, 1300 Series, 3000 Series, 3200 Series, or TX9000 Series calls a C60.
  2. The products mentioned in Step 1 share a presentation with the C60.
  3. The C60 places the call on hold, then resumes the call.

Under these conditions, neither the main video nor the presentation is seen by the C60.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager 9.0

  • „Native registration. Encrypted calls are not supported in 8.6.
  • DTMF: KPML is not supported. If you use an H.323 Gateway to access a public telephone line, DTMF will not work. To resolve this:
    • Convert IOS Gateway to SIP or MGCP.
    • Insert a Unified Border Element between the CUCM and the H.323 Gateway to do SIP to H.323 conversion (CUCM-SIP-CUBEH. 323-GW).
  • „If you experience random call drops make sure the default maximum size for SIP message in CUCM is set to 11000 bytes (default is 5000 bytes)
  • „If dual stream (BFCP) does not work:
    • Enable BFCP on SIP profile for endpoints in CUCM.
    • Enable BFCP for SIP trunk profile if calling to/from a Cisco VCS.
  • NTP: Configure Unicast NTP references for endpoints in CUCM.
  • „Provisioning: Make sure the endpoint has a DNS server that can resolve the host name, or change CUCM > System > Server, to be IP address instead of hostname.
