Cisco TelePresence

Interoperability Database

Warning - In preview mode

We endeavor to make our Cisco TelePresence products interoperable with all relevant standards-based equipment. Although it is not possible to test all scenarios, the testing on which this data is based covers most common functions of the listed endpoints and infrastructure.

The following pages describe the software releases that were tested for interoperability with Cisco TelePresence products. The results are grouped by product range. It is not possible to guarantee that all the models listed in the Product(s) column have been tested with the specified software release, although to the best of our knowledge we believe that all such models are interoperable with the associated software release. The absence of a device or release does not imply a lack of interoperability.

Classic 1000, Classic 2500, Classic 6000, Classic 880 E5.3 If experiencing problems with encryption, change the encryption setup on the endpoint from Auto to AES.
Classic 1000, Classic 2500, Classic 6000, Classic 880 < B.10 / E5.3 AES encryption may not work.
Classic 1000, Classic 2500, Classic 6000, Classic 880 < B.10 / E5.3 Endpoint crashes due to large capability sets.
If you are connecting to the MCU through an ISDN gateway, the endpoint can crash due to large capability sets being sent by the MCU. To rectify this problem, go to Settings > Conferences. For Maximum video size to Receive 4CIF. Set Transmit MAX to disable H.263+.
Classic 1000, Classic 2500, Classic 6000, Classic 880 E5.3 H.323: Issues with encryption.
When calling out from a conference to a TANDBERG Classic with encryption enabled, encryption will oscillate on and off quickly making video in both directions very poor.

Workarounds:

  • Disable encryption on the endpoint
  • Call in to conference via autoattendant
  • Decrease call bandwidth to <=768Kbps

X3 11.2.2 In SIP calls, audio may not work especially when bandwidth is low.
X3 11.2.2 There may be lipsync issues because of the RTCP timestamps sent by the X3.

Room, Room 200 LS_RM1_4.2.7(8) SRTP encryption issues.
Calls to LifeSize endpoints cannot be established if the MCU is set to use SRTP encryption. To rectify this issue, go to Settings > Encryption and select TLS only or Disabled for SRTP encryption.

Polycom

HDX, HDX 8006, HDX 8000 2.6.0 SIP H.263 calls do not work if content is enabled on the MCU. Disable content or use H.264.
HDX 9000 2.5.0.8 VSX can reduce the bandwidth of the content channel.
Sometimes the VSX can reduce the bandwidth of the content channel to zero, stopping content altogether. To avoid this on the VSX go to System > Admin Settings > Network > IP > QOS > Page 2 of 2 and uncheck Dynamic Bandwidth.

To stop this affecting other content views, on the MCU go to Settings > Content and set a minimum bit rate for the content channel.

Note: Polycom are aware of this issue and it is being addressed in their next release.

QDX 6000 3.0.2181 When H.261 is negotiated, the endpoint fails to send video.
When H.261 is negotiated, the endpoint fails to send any media despite the logical channels being open. This is a known QDX issue.

H.261 can be deselected either when calling out to a participant from the web interface (using the Custom codec selection option), or as an MCU-wide option on the Settings > Conferences page.
ViewStation 512, ViewStation SP, FX 7.5.4 This endpoint does not support H.239.
VSX 7000, VSX 7000e 9.0.6 w480p (848 x 480) resolution not supported.
On the MCU, go to Settings > Conferences. For Transmitted video resolutions select 4:3 resolutions only to prevent this resolution being transmitted.
